PULL THE PIN

by phil

Call me a sucker for bands from the UK…or just call me a sucker for good music. Already naming Oasis’s Dig Out Your Soul my fall album to look for, I’m here to tell you another must listen from the UK. The new(ish) release from Stereophonics, Pull the Pin. Originally scheduled for stateside release in late 2007, Pin was held off US shelves due to the folding of their US label, V2-America in 2006. The album has already seen massive chart domination in the UK, and for good reason. Finally getting a US release this week, the album is filled equally with both melodically crafted pieces of wax and sun-sized rockers. This is perhaps best exemplified withIt Means Nothing”a song that just gets better and better after each listen.

IT MEANS NOTHING BY STEREOPHONICS:

I’ve been a fan of Stereophonics for years, but only sparingly. After stumbling upon the song “Daisy Lane” (off Pin), I’ve kind of been on a kick of theirs lately. One of the UK’s most successful acts over the last decade, for some reason the band has never struck a major chord with US audiences. However, currently on a 12-date trek through the states, I reckon you check out both the gig and album. If you dig, you’re in luck. Universal will be re-releasing the bands entire back catalog and a greatest hits album, Decade In The Sun this fall.
