Next Monday’s Andrew Bird concert not withstanding, Manhattan’s Bowery Ballroom is hosting two of January’s biggest shows over the next 48 hours. Animal Collective will wrap up the second show of their NYC back-to-back tonight and the venue will host the Regina Spektor/Ra Ra Riot benefit for Planned Parenthood on Thursday. Since both shows are sold out and we assume you’re going to pass on $150 Craigslist tix, we’ve got some recommended alternatives. The Dirty Projectors and Laurie Anderson play B.A.M. on Wednesday night in a concert to launch the BAM Next Stage Campaign. And then on Thursday, Matt & Kim play the Music Hall of Williamsburg for a $12 show. Our quick tip for the weekend would be Devotchka at Webster Hall on Saturday night.
