Memorial Day is approaching (seriously) and there are plenty of opportunities to get the BBQ going. This week’s Reel promises tour dates and music. Everything else is gravy.

Au Revoir Simone’s Still Night, Still Light is set to drop next week. You can stream it right now over at their Myspace. The breezy pop and synths are sure to draw you in, but the girls don’t stop there. Starting next Tuesday, head over to and you can buy the album for a grand total of $0.00. Yup, free. For the first month, the price will increase up to $7.98. As an added bonus, you’ll get their entire discography. Not a bad deal at all.

Xponential Music Fest Makes Camden Exponentially More Desirable

If you are like me, or of a sane mind, you don’t dwell in New Jersey for long stretches of time. I won’t say too much as it may alienate our huge readership over there (seriously, we’re like huge there…or not, I don’t have any numbers) but the beautiful scene of Camden’s waterfront will be host to their own music festival. Running from July 24-26 acts include Aimee Man, Peter Bjorn & John, Guster, Yeasayer, The Hold Steady, and They Might Be Giants. Check out the full lineup and ticket info here.

Bloc Party’s Fan Made Video For “Ares”

The remix by Villians is frantic and all over the place and the video does it justice. Shot over two shows, it’s an interesting glimpse of the band and their fans.

Tasty tidbits:

Fatboy Slim (seriously) has a show on 6/24 at Terminal 5. It’s his only east coast date, so get some tickets on Friday.

Blondie and Pat Benatar announced a free show at Asser Levy Park on 8/13.

Man Man has a free show at East River Park on 7/16.

Bowerbirds bring their folksy sound to the Bowery Ballroom on 7/8. Get your tickets Friday.

Here’s an interesting article from the Guardian about Vampire Weekend and what this band really means in regards to Indie Rock. Has it been a façade all along?
