SXSW was an alcohol-infused whirlwind that ended too soon, but allow me to share some cherished fragments…

Artist: Daedelus
Song: Order Of The Golden Dawn

The Generationals drummer Tess Bruneh and bandmates Grant Widmer and Ted Joyner delivered that happy poppy feeling to the Side Bar, where I also learned that Lone Star beer is cheap and easy on the gullet.

Daedelus’ chopped-up beats and mish-mashed genres and Anti-Pop Consortium’s tumbling words filled a warehouse on Austin’s East Side Friday night.

People-watching offered many opportunities for giggles. Case-in-point on Red River and Sixth Streets:

“They don’t allow pit bulls in Denver.” – Hippie Chick to Dude
“We don’t allow pit bulls, but we do allow weed dispensaries on every corner.” – Dude

Also overheard at SXSW on Saturday:

“I haven’t heard a good Lady Gaga cover band in years, but I think I’d rather watch you rip the limbs off an innocent victim.” – Gwar to Wannabe Rocker before he chainsawed the arms and legs off a flailing volunteer.

“I’m the biggest cunt in this room.” - Courtney Love at the Perez Hilton party Saturday night.
